Holy, holy, holy. Scripture and song repeat to us over and over that the LORD is holy. In Joshua 7 we see one of the Israelites taking what is devoted to God, and therefore holy, and bringing it into the camp. The consequences are dire including a military defeat and the death of the man’s entire family. Such a story should cause us to reflect on God’s standard of holiness and ask what things devoted to God do we keep for ourselves?
