Caleb and Joshua were two of the twelve spies Moses sent to spy out the land that would later become Israel’s home; they were the only ones who brought a trustworthy report. 45 years later we meet Caleb again as Joshua is assigning land to tribes and families. He asks for land that he had explored and that still has strong enemies to be driven out. Caleb exhibits a life dedicated to the service of the LORD and his kingdom purposes and so serves as an example for us all.
