“I AM the Good Shepherd” is a rich statement of Jesus’ identity in his relationship with his followers. As our shepherd Jesus knows us intimately, guides and provides for us daily, and protects or saves us at the cost of his own life. Jesus expresses his complete control of the coming events of arrest, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection. We can take great comfort in knowing our Savior cares for us as a shepherd and has the power and authority to watch over our lives.
