I AM the Gate for the Sheep Sunday, March 1, 2026

We will look at one of the more intriguing “I AM” statements made by Jesus. Jesus says that he is the “Gate for the Sheep.” In the rugged hills where shepherds grazed their sheep, there were enclosures where the sheep were gathered for protection in the evenings. The shepherd would then sleep across the front of this pen to guard against wild animals or thieves. Jesus uses this picture to illustrate both that he is our protection and that he is the only way of salvation.
