Real Dads Stink Sunday, June 18, 2023

Pastor Kevin Muyskens

Shepherds were not invited into polite company; one key reason was that they smelled bad. After spending weeks in the open country with the flocks they would be fairly ripe. They attained this odor, however, because they were serving the sheep. They protected the sheep from predators, guided them by safe paths to good grass and safe water, and cared for the sheep by tending wounds and getting them out of tight places. This description of a shepherd works also as a description of a good dad. On this Father’s Day let’s rejoice if our dads stink.
