In his very personal telling of the story of Jesus, John is the only gospel writer to report a rather astounding miracle: Jesus turns about 100 gallons of water into win. Yet he does it in such a quiet way that the only ones who know about it are Jesus’ mother, his disciples, and a couple of servants. If Jesus kept the miracle private at the time, what is John’s purpose in presenting it to us? John hints at this in his final sentence, “He (Jesus) thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.”
