Uncomfortable Authority Sunday, August 9, 2026

The most basic Christian profession is, “Jesus is Lord.” For Jesus to be Lord, that means we submit to him; submitting to him means submitting to the teaching of the Bible. When it comes to understanding the Bible’s teaching we look to the history of that understanding we find in our historic community. To apply that teaching today, we look to our church leaders. Those leaders are placed in authority over individual church members as representatives of Christ’s authority, which is a gift from God.
